Catholic School Aid in El Paso (FACTS, Burkitt & Catholic Foundation)

El Paso's Catholic schools layer their own aid on top of TEFA: diocesan need-based awards through the FACTS form, Burkitt Foundation assistance at seven schools, and scholarship funds held by the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso.

The El Paso Catholic Schools office lists nine TEFA participants: Cathedral High School, the Father Yermo Schools, Loretto Academy, Most Holy Trinity, St. Joseph's, St. Matthew, St. Patrick's Cathedral School, St. Pius X and St. Raphael. Its TEFA page walked families through last cycle's February 4 to March 17 window.

Diocesan need-based aid starts with acceptance. Once a child is admitted, the family completes the online FACTS Grant & Aid form, and the schools office notes that the earlier a family applies, the better the odds of help. Forms come in English and Spanish.

The Burkitt Foundation provides need-based tuition assistance at seven schools: Father Yermo, St. Matthew, St. Patrick, St. Joseph, Most Holy Trinity, St. Raphael and St. Pius X. Families use a separate Burkitt form submitted to the principal with an income form.

The Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso holds endowed scholarship funds for Catholic schools. Its Bishop's Scholarship Fund makes renewable awards of $500 to $4,000 a year to students from pre-K through grade 12 who are recommended by a pastor or principal and couldn't attend without help. The Foundation reported 191 scholarship students in 2023-24.

With TEFA in the picture, these funds matter most for waitlisted families and for high school, where tuition is highest. The diocese's aid contact can be reached at (915) 872-8412, ext. 157.

Combining it with other sources

Few El Paso families rely on a single source. This one normally works alongside the school's own discounts and at least one more item on this list, and the funding check lays out the exact mix for your child.
