How the numbers line up
On the $2,000 homeschool account, a K-2 student would have about $260 left to cover, and a student in grades 3-12 about $1,000. On the $10,474 tier the price would leave plenty for other approved expenses, but only if the program were a participating school.
Approval comes first
TEFA pays only approved programs. An online school gets there either as a participating school, which takes accreditation, two years of operation and a Texas office, or as an approved marketplace vendor. Check AmFaith's current Texas status before you plan around the account.
A church-hosted option
Some congregations host online students on campus a few days a week, supplying the space, the fellowship and a supervising adult while the online school supplies instruction. After accreditation and two years of operation, a group like that can apply to TEFA as a school in its own right.
Our relationship
AmFaith doesn't pay us and isn't a sponsor of this site. We describe it because its pricing sits next to a Texas funding tier, and we'd treat any comparable program the same way.
